  • 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM
  • Online

Economic Gardening is an entrepreneurial approach to economic development. It focuses on helping companies achieve sales growth: drawing new money into communities and/or keeping money from leaking out to increase economic circulation within the community.

For many, Economic Gardening is misunderstood, little noticed, or just an off-road idea. Yet today, Economic Gardening is becoming an increasingly important alternative to the classic attract & retain strategies in economic development. In other words, a viable growth strategy for the rest of us!

What you will Learn

Invest in your career. Invest in your community's success. Join us for a conversation with, Chris Gibbons, the father and torch bearer of global economic gardening. Christian Gibbons is co-inventor (along with city manager Jim Woods) and face of “Economic Gardening,” an entrepreneurial approach to economic development.  Mr. Gibbons has run the economic gardening project for the City of Littleton for 22 years. From the period 1990 to 2009 the number of jobs in Littleton doubled from 15,000 to over 30,000 and sales tax revenues more than tripled from $6 to $21 million. The City did not recruit one industry during this period, nor did it offer one cent in incentives or tax rebates.
