The Rural Development Network is organizing a presentation by Alessandro Alasia – Head with the Rural Research Group at Statistics Canada – titled:
Canada's Rural Demography: An Update to 2011
Demography is a key aspect of rural development. The size and pattern of growth of the rural population is typically the first question of interest to rural policy analysts, organizations and researchers. In this seminar, we will present an update of demographic trends in rural Canada using the recently released (February 8, 2012) population counts from the Census of population 2011. Some of the analysis will look at long-term population changes, 1981-2011, at the community level, using special tabulations with constant census geographic boundaries.
